The head of Reliance Industries (RIL), Mukesh Ambani has bought Rolls-Royce costing ₹13.14 crore. As per Regional Transport Office (RTO), it is one of the most expensive car purchases ever that is made in India.
On January 31, the petrol version of Rolls Royce Cullinan was registered by RIL at the Tardeo RTO in South Mumbai.
When it was first launched in 2018, its base price was ₹ 6.95 crore. However, the auto industry experts said that due to customized modifications, the price of the car have raised.
RTO officials claimed that the company has opted for the "Tuscan Sun" as a color option for 12-cylinder car, weighing over 2.5 tones and producing 564 BHP power, with a special number plate.
A one-time tax of the SUV has been paid by the RIL of ₹ 20 lakh whose registration is valid till January 30, 2037. Another tax of ₹ 40,000 has also been paid as a safety tax. Also, the company has paid ₹ 12 lakh for VIP number for its chairman and managing director's new car. The number ends with "0001" , as per officials.
Generally, a VIP number costs ₹ 4 lakh, however, the chosen number was already taken, therefore, a new series had to be started.
With the consent of written permission from Transport Commissioner, RTO offices can start a new series for assigning a new registration mark 0001 for which the applicant has to pay three times the fee of the regular number.
The company has numerous high-end luxury cars in its garage. But, this could even be the most expensive car purchased in India, said one RTO official.
