The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) Office of Defects Investigation received the complaints that vehicles are completely losing their power while owners were operating the electric car, Porsche is looking for the Taycan electric four-door. About, 43,000 Taycans are influenced worldwide and the lists includes all models.
They received total of nine complaints regarding lost complete power by Tayacans whereas, operating at a variety of speeds. They were unable to restart, six complaints said that after the vehicles lost power.
Officials also says that a loss of charge in the vehicle's 12-volt battery might shut down the car's entire electric system. The affected Taycan comes with either a 71.0- or 83.7-kWh battery pack, and therefore, the issue is regardless of pack size, Porsche says.
The company has issued a software update to change engine control unit software and the vehicle's power electronics. Few vehicles have already been updated, implemented into production, and dealers will modify the vehicles in their warehouses. The modified software will no longer trigger a loss of power by following some incorrect communication between drivetrain modules.
Those impacted will be informed by Porsche this month, and dealers will fix the issue for free of cost.
