Skoda Kushaq is finally launched in India at a starting price of 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Kushaq is developed as a part of Skoda's 2.0 strategy to achieve a strong mark in the mid-size SUV segment controlled largely by Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
The Kushaq ID is taken from the Sanskrit word 'Kushak,' which stands for an emperor or ruler. Well, does Kushaq has the pedigree to challenge Korean rivals?
Here are the pricing details:
Skoda Kushaq engine and transmission
The new Kushaq is available with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI engine and a 1.5-litre TSI engine. Skoda exclusively introduced Kushaq petrol engines. The 1-litre turbo engine generates 115 PS, while the 1.5-litre turbo engine provides 150 PS.
The car is available with a manual six-speed transmission and an automated six-speed transmission. The SUV is also equipped with a DSG seven-speed transmission.
Skoda Kushaq – available colours
Skoda Kushaq will be offered in five colour options. These are Torando Pink, Sweet White, Carbon Metal, and Honey Orange Metal.
Detailed Review: Skoda Kushaq - SUV built to crack the Indian market
Skoda Kushaq comes with the latest design language from the Czech automaker. Bohemian crystals have inspired this design language and display sharp contours from the nose to the toe. This similar design language is seen in many up-to-date Skoda cars.
The SUV's entrance profile will have sharp LED projector headlights with integrated LED daytime operating lights. A vertically slated entrance grille enhances the SUV's aggressiveness with abundant chrome highlight trim. The bumper will have black cladding around the air intakes, while a skid plate adds a feeling of boldness to the car.
However, the pricing of Skoda Kushaq is a bit disappointing as 1.5 TSI is only available with top trim Style. The DSG variant will cost around Rs 17.6 lakhs ex-showroom. It would be interesting to see how markets respond to Skoda Kushaq against Korean rivals Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
