One person was killed and 17 others were injured when a speeding car plowed into a crowd in Pathalgaon in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district during Friday's Goddess Durga idol immersion procession. The accident happened in Pathalgaon's Bazarpara region, according to the reports. The man killed was recognized as Gaurav Agarwal (21).
X-rays revealed two persons had fractures and were sent to a different hospital after the terrible incident, according to Block Medical Officer James Minj.
Two individuals were arrested including Shishupal Sahu (26) and Bablu Vishwakarma (21). According to the Jashpur SP Office, both men are from Madhya Pradesh.
According to reports, the car that hit the victims had a large amount of marijuana in it. Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel called the incident "sad and heart-wrenching," adding that the accused were immediately arrested and that action will be taken against those police officers who are prima facie guilty of the offense.
"The incident in Jashpur breaks my heart. The guilty quickly arrest. Additionally, for the police officers who appeared guilty, prima facie charges will file against them. Ordered an investigation. Nobody will leave unpunished. All will receive justice. May God grant the departed's soul eternal rest." CM Baghel posted a tweet.
