RTO Vehicle Registration Process in India

In India, any newly purchased vehicle must be registered with the RTO before it can be driven on the road.

Submission of Documents

The dealer or owner submits documents such as:
• Form 20 (application for registration)
• Sale invoice
• Insurance policy
• Certificate of pollution control (PUC)
• Address and identity proof

Vehicle Inspection

The vehicle is physically inspected to ensure that the vehicle documented in the records is the same and meets the minimum safety and emissions standards.

Fee & Tax Payment

Applicable road tax, registration fee and other charges are paid online or at the RTO counter.

Allocation of Registration Number
