Step 1: Find the Right RTO Office

Step 2: Prepare Required Documents

How to Transfer Vehicle Ownership in Delhi RTO
Whether you are selling or buying a secondhand vehicle in Delhi, it is legally essential to transfer the Registration Certificate (RC) to the new owner. Step 1: Identify the Type of ownership transfer
Ownership transfers are classified into three categories:
- Normal Sale – Sale within Delhi
- Transfer by Death - Transfer to legal heir
- Transfer from Other State - If the vehicle is registered outside of Delhi
Step 2: Gather Required documents
Here’s what both buyer and seller need to submit:
From Seller:
- Original Registration Certificate (RC)
- Form 29 & Form 30 (Duly signed)
- Copy of valid insurance
- Copy of PUC certificate
- Address proof
From Buyer:
- ID & address proof
- Passport-size photographs
- PAN card copy (for road tax if applicable)
Step 3: Submit the Application at the RTO

Step 4: Pay the RC Transfer Fee
Usually, the fees range from ₹150–₹500 in the case of a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler. If you have a loan for the vehicle, you will have to submit Form 35 and a bank NOC.
Step 5: Verification & RC Issuance
