How to Pay E-Challan UP Offline
Online payments provide convenience, but Uttar Pradesh also has offline methods available for traffic fine settlements. Below are 3 reliable payment options:
Pay at the Nearest Traffic Police Station
To pay a challan in person, you can go to the local traffic police station.Locate the Location:The first step involves finding the closest traffic police station within the city or district.
- Carry Necessary Documents: A person must take the needed documents. The documents are a driving license, a vehicle registration certificate, and a copy of the challan.
- Payment:The money is paid in cash at the counter.
- Receipt:You receive a receipt. It is a stamped paper as evidence of payment.
Pay On-the-Spot to a Traffic Police Officer
If you're stopped for a traffic violation, you may have the option to pay the fine directly to the traffic police officer on duty:
- E Challan Device: Traffic officers often have handheld e challan devices.
- Immediate Paymen: You can pay the fine immediately with cash or digital payment. Payment options depend on what the device allows.
- Receipt: You must get a printed receipt from the device. The receipt confirms payment.
Send a Demand Draft (DD) or Pay Order
For those unable to visit in person, sending a Demand Draft or Pay Order is an alternative:Prepare the DD/Pay Order:Obtain a Demand Draft or Pay Order for the exact fine amount from your bank, payable to the relevant traffic authority.
- Include Details: Write your vehicle number, challan number, and contact information on the back of the DD/Pay Order.
- Mailing Address: Send it to the address specified on your challan notice or contact the local traffic department for the correct mailing address.
- Confirmation: Keep a copy of the DD/Pay Order and postal receipt for your records.
Received a Wrong UP E-Challan? Here's The Fix
On occasion, traffic penalties can be improperly attributed to you due to mistaken identity, license plate confusion, or technological malfunctions. If you believe that a UP e-challan incorrectly cites you as breaking a traffic law, you may dispute as follows:
Go to the Parivahan Grievance Portal
Access the official website - https://parivahan.gov.in - and find the “Grievance” tab in the e-challan services.
Organize your evidence to support your dispute. You could include:
• Dashcam footage
• Parking slips
• Toll receipts or GPS location history
• Images or documents showing your vehicle was elsewhere
Complete a Dispute Form
Put the correct vehicle registration number, challan number, and upload all files. In the explanation area of the form, specify the details of your dispute.
Wait for Verification
Your complaint will be forwarded to be verified by the UP RTO or traffic department. Once verified, the wrongful challan could be cancelled or amended.
Go to the Traffic Police Headquarters (if required)
In the event that you receive no communication in a few working days or if the matter is urgent, you may go to the nearest traffic police office, or the Traffic. Make sure you bring the originals and photocopies of all the relevant documents, such as your vehicle RC, driving licence and the e-challan notice.
Appear at the virtual court or at the physical court (if needed)
In some cases, if the matter is unresolved through the UP Traffic Police, the e challan can be moved to the Virtual Court UP, or Metropolitan Magistrate Court. Here you'll have the opportunity to challenge the fine with your proof. You can check the status of court cases or the hearing dates pertaining to your challan at https://vcourts.gov.in
