How to Register a Vehicle in Jharkhand RTO
Are you buying a new vehicle in Jharkhand? You need to register your vehicle with your local RTO to legally drive on the roads. However, registering your vehicle is a straightforward process and can be accomplished either online or at your local RTO office.
- Visit the RTO local to your address (e.g. JH01 for Ranchi)
- Fill out Form 20 (Application for Registration)

RC Renewal & Ownership Transfer in Jharkhand
RC Renewal
The state of Jharkhand Registration Certificate (RC) is valid for 15 years from the date of registration for private vehicles and must be renewed every 5 years after.

How to Apply for Driving Licence in Jharkhand
To drive legally in Jharkhand you need to apply for a learner's licence (LL) first, then after 30 days apply for a permanent driving licence (DL).
- Go to sarathi.parivahan.gov.in and select your state as Jharkhand.
- Select "Apply for Driving Licence (After LL)".

How to Pay Road Tax in Jharkhand
- Go to parivahan.gov.in.
- Click on "Vehicle Related Services" and select Jharkhand.

Hypothecation & NOC Services in Jharkhand RTO
If your vehicle was bought on loan, hypothecation is added to your RC. After loan closure, you must get it removed. Also, if you're planning to move your vehicle to another state, an NOC is required.
How to End Hypothecation in Jharkhand:
- Visit parivahan.gov.in or your local RTO.
- Select "Termination of Hypothecation" under Vehicle Services.
- Fill in Form 35 signed by the financer and vehicle owner.
- Upload/submit:
- RC (Smart Card)
- Insurance & PUC
- Loan closure letter
- Pay the hypothecation removal fee (₹500 for 2W, ₹1500 for cars).
- Get the updated RC with hypothecation removed.
