How to Register a Vehicle in RTO Uttarakhand

You need to register all new vehicles in Uttarakhand with the local RTO office before you can start driving it on the road legally. Whether you are purchasing a two-wheeler in Haridwar or a private car in Dehradun, here is how to do it:

  1. Visit the local RTO – Find the RTO based on your address (for example, UK07 for Dehradun).
  2. Fill out the Application Form – Fill out Form 20 (please see below) and submit your vehicle invoice along with the other documents.
  3. Submit Required Documents – Submit your ID/address proof, insurance, PUC, Form 21 (sale certificate), Form 22 (roadworthiness), and PAN/Form 60.
  4. Pay Applicable Charges – Make the payment for the registration fee and road tax based on your vehicle type and the invoice amount.
  5. Vehicle Inspection – The RTO officer will inspect the vehicle to verify the chassis and engine number.
  6. Receive RC & Number Plate – You will receive a permanent registration number, and the RC smart card will be sent to your registered address.

RC Renewal & Ownership Transfer in Uttarakhand

RC Renewal:

The Registration Certificate (RC) for private vehicles is only valid for 15 years. After that it must be renewed every 5 years.
